Dr. Matias Slavov
I am a Finnish philosopher with an interest in foundational questions about the nature of reality and our knowledge of it. In June, I will take up a postdoctoral appointment at LUT University, focusing on teaching philosophy of science.
I earned my PhD in philosophy from the University of Jyväskylä in 2016, where I also hold the title of docent in the history and philosophy of science. From 2017 to 2019, I was a visiting researcher and lecturer at the University of California, Los Angeles. As a postdoctoral fellow funded by the Academy of Finland, I worked at Tampere University from 2020 to 2023. I have also undertaken shorter research visits to the Department of Philosophy at Stockholm University in spring 2015 and to the Centre for Philosophy and the Sciences at the University of Oslo in late 2022. I served as a substitute lecturer at the University of Oulu between late 2023 and early 2024, and visited the Centre for Time at the University of Sydney in early 2026. Oxford University will host my next research visit in April 2027.
